Episode – #42
In this episode, with guest Kristy Black of Kristy Black Creative dives in with me to talk about the magic of ourselves within out business and owning what truly makes us unique to find an ideal pathway for our life and livelihood.
Embracing Abundance and Positivity in Entrepreneurship
Megan and Kristy discussed the importance of abundance and positivity in entrepreneurship. They emphasized the need to find and embrace one’s own “magic” and the value of seeing the potential for good in others. They also discussed the depth of branding and the idea that entrepreneurs often have deeper motivations driving their actions. Megan pointed out that many entrepreneurs are surprised by this aspect of branding. They also touched on the pressure to achieve certain levels of success and the negative impact it can have on self-perception. Kristy emphasized the importance of focusing on how one wants to feel as an entrepreneur, rather than solely focusing on outcomes and goals.
Entrepreneurship Challenges and Growth
Kristy and Megan, both experienced entrepreneurs, discussed the challenges and learning processes involved in entrepreneurship. They emphasized the importance of finding support systems, understanding oneself, and having realistic expectations. They also highlighted the necessity of trusting one’s instincts and not treating any one solution as a silver bullet for success. The conversation focused on the importance of being honest about the difficulties of entrepreneurship, while also acknowledging the benefits and personal growth that come from the journey.
Finding Your Voice in Business
Kristy shared her journey of starting her business and the challenges she faced, including criticism from a mentorship group about her professional style. She struggled to find her voice and identity in her business, and it led her to attract clients who were not a good fit. However, she eventually realized the importance of being true to herself and overhauled her business approach. This change led her to exclusively work with dream clients for the past three years. Megan and Kristy discussed the difficulty of blending in and the importance of being oneself in business.
Businesses as Platforms for Positive Change
Kristy and Megan discussed the various ways to create positive change through businesses. Kristy highlighted the importance of understanding personal values and shared her own experiences of using her business as a platform for change, such as offering scholarship programs and hiring diverse team members. Megan emphasized that change doesn’t have to be monetary and can be as simple as writing a letter. They both agreed on the power of conversation and awareness in creating change, suggesting that even small actions could ripple out and inspire others.

The guys discuss how you never use the first beak when pulling an accurate measurement, why you can’t expect 145 tons of black market chicken to be any cooler than room temperature, and when is the ONLY TIME you’ll ever hear a mourner say “we’re all better off”.

We are proud to present U.S. Paralympic Athlete, Rancher, and Father Kevan Hueftle. In 2005 Kevan also known as “Flea” was involved in a hunting accident that led to an amputation of his left leg below the knee. Consequently, Flea struggled with alcoholism due to the tragic loss of his limb and the constant pain he suffered as an amputee. Through perseverance and grit, Flea decided to defy the odds and would eventually compete on the US Track and Field teams and medal as an elite Paralympic Athlete. Kevan is a beacon of hope for anyone struggling with limb loss or addiction. It is our pleasure to introduce Kevan Hueftle! The AMP’D UP211 Video Podcast is hosted by Rick Bontkowski, a right-below-knee amputee.
