I recently spent a couple hundred dollars on a coffee machine. It’s kind of a big purchase for me. I watched a few youtube videos, read some amazon reviews, checked them out in the store (and told a salesperson I was just looking). I’ve known the guy for years, talked to him for hours, listened to him geek out on what he’s passionate about: Making coffee. You can become that friend, an expert in your field, to your listeners.
